The project

InCrypt creates archives, lets users browse earlier copies and recover selected files or entire snapshots. It combines encryption and compression with deduplication to avoid storing the same data repeatedly. Archives can be managed through a desktop application or a command-line tool.

My contribution

I built custom data archiving software with encryption and snapshot support. InCrypt is connected to InVault but can also be used independently of the appliance.

  • Data history

    Incremental snapshots, compression and deduplication within an archive.

  • Encryption and verification

    Content encryption, archive integrity verification and snapshot history management.

  • Accessing backups

    Browsing snapshots and restoring selected files, directories or an entire snapshot.

Approach

A shared Rust library handles archives for the command-line tool, desktop application and InVault. The desktop interface uses Tauri and React, keeping archiving logic consistent across the different ways of using the product.
